Here’s an article from fxguide about how we created the characters for Far Cry 3. I did an interview with them and we talked about topics covered in the recent Autodesk 3December 2012 event, and some more behind the scenes of the game, as well as more in depth look at the motion capture process. It also covers topics from Marc Beaudoin’s GDC talk about “Enhancing Performance Capture”. Great in depth look at characters and animation on Far Cry 3.

“Creating Insane Characters for Far Cry 3” is a presentation I recently did at the Autodesk 3December 2012 event. I go through the pipeline for modelling, rigging and animating cinematic characters for Far Cry 3. I would like to post a little bit more in-depth about this later, but for now you can watch the presentation online on AreaTV here:
Check it out! Our E3 2012 stage demo of Far Cry 3. I think it looks pretty bad-ass. It’s maybe a bit NSFW (not-safe-for-work), so don’t say I didn’t warn you. We’ve come a long way in a year. Enjoy!
At GDC 2012 Marc Beaudoin, one or our talented technical directors from our Mocap Studio, gave a talk about Enhancing Performance Capture on Far Cry 3 with Autodesk Motion Builder. In the middle there are some slides I made about facial animation and you can see the animation I did on one of our characters using our internally developed facial animation software, followed by a comparison video after an animator has done a final polish pass over it in Motion Builder. Very cool stuff. Enjoy!
“Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?”
It’s announced! Far Cry 3 is the game I have been working on since joining Ubisoft Montreal. Check out the gameplay demo we showed at E3 2011.
This is my Technical Artist Showreel.
It contains examples of rigs and tools I have created for a number of different projects. There are also some short clips from trailers of games I have worked on.
On these projects I have been a rigger, tech artist, and/or modeller.

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.
One of my co-workers has started standing up at work, and we all look unproductive by comparison. Well, after I read this article, via Lifehacker, I decided to give it a shot. So far I like it.
